Terms of Use

Alcove is a coaching assistant for primary-school teachers. These terms cover the Term 4 2026 alpha pilot. They are written to be read, not to be survived.

What Alcove is

Alcove helps you prepare and reflect on lessons. It is grounded in the Learning First curriculum and a library of evidence-based teaching practice.

Alcove is a development coach, not a therapist, counsellor or clinician. It supports your professional practice. It is not a mental-health service, and it is not a substitute for one. If a conversation turns towards distress, Alcove will stop coaching and point you to real support — Lifeline 13 11 14, Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636, or your school or sector Employee Assistance Program. If you are ever in immediate danger, call 000.

What Alcove is not

It is not a performance-management tool, and it is not an assessment of you. Nothing you write is scored against you, shared with your school, or used to form a judgement about your teaching for anyone other than you. See the Privacy Policy, which is the substantive half of this promise.

It is an alpha pilot

Alcove is early software. Expect rough edges, occasional errors, and changes between weeks. The coaching is generated by a language model: it can be wrong, and it can be confidently wrong. You are the professional in the room. Treat Alcove’s suggestions as a colleague’s — worth considering, not authoritative — and never let it override your own judgement about your students.

During the pilot we may contact you to ask how it is going. You can stop using Alcove at any time, for any reason, without explaining why.

What we ask of you

Use Alcove for your own teaching practice. Do not share your account. Please avoid entering information that identifies individual students — Alcove does not need it, and the less of it that exists, the better. Referring to “a student who is struggling with fractions” is exactly right; naming them is not necessary.

Your content

What you write stays yours. We store it to provide the service and to improve it, within the boundaries set out in the Privacy Policy. You can ask us to delete your account and its content at any time.

Curriculum materials

The Learning First curriculum content available through Alcove remains the property of Learning First. It is provided for your teaching use. Please do not redistribute it.

Changes

If these terms change in substance, the version above changes and you will be asked to read and accept them again. We will not quietly extend an old agreement to cover new words.
