Privacy Policy
Version 2026-09-26 · Last updated 26 September 2026
One promise matters more than everything else on this page, so it goes first.
Your content never goes upward
What you write in Alcove never reaches your colleagues, your head teacher, your principal, your school, your employer, a Department of Education, or Learning First. Not as a report, not as a summary, not as an aggregate, not informally. There is no view in this product that shows one teacher’s coaching to anyone else, and we will not build one.
This is the reason Alcove can be useful. A teacher who thinks a candid sentence might reach their principal will never write one — and coaching that you cannot be honest with is worthless. If that boundary ever changes, Alcove stops being the thing you agreed to use, and you would be asked to accept a new policy first.
What we store
- Your name and email address, so you can sign in.
- Your coaching conversations, and the lesson or unit each relates to.
- Outputs you generate — audio primers, coaching notes.
- Usage records: when you signed in, which features you used, and what each request cost us to run.
Who can actually see it
Being straight about this, because “we take privacy seriously” tells you nothing:
- You.
- Alcove’s operator — a very small team, currently one person with production access — who can reach stored content while running and debugging the service, and who reviews flagged conversations where someone may be in distress. That review exists for your safety, is logged, and never results in contact with your school.
- The model provider (Anthropic) processes your messages to generate replies, under an agreement that they are not used to train models.
- Nobody at your school, and nobody at Learning First.
Where it lives
Teacher and curriculum data is stored in Australia (Sydney). Some operational telemetry — error reports and model traces used to debug the service — is processed outside Australia. We keep personal content out of that telemetry.
Students
Alcove is for teachers. It is not designed to hold student information, and we ask you not to enter details that identify individual students. During this pilot, classroom recording is switched off entirely.
During the pilot
We look at how Alcove is used to work out whether it helps: how often teachers return, which features get used, whether the coaching lands. That analysis is aggregate. Where we quote anything specific in a write-up, we ask you first.
Your choices
- Ask what is stored about you, and we will tell you.
- Ask for your account and its content to be deleted, and we will do it.
- Pause Alcove’s memory of past conversations from within the product.
- Stop using Alcove whenever you like.
